Terms of Service

Welcome to Word Bomb! These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you and Word Bomb and its operators (“Word Bomb”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of the game and anything you send us through it. Please read them carefully.

1.Acceptance of Terms

By playing Word Bomb, whether through our website, our apps, or as a Discord Activity, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree with any part of these terms, please don’t use the game.

Some features, like the in-game submission forms, ask you to tick a box to accept these Terms before you continue. Ticking that box is your electronic signature. It means you have read these Terms, you agree to them, and you intend to be legally bound by them, just as if you had signed them on paper. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when.

2.Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to play Word Bomb. If you’re under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you may only use the game, and only submit content, if a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms and agrees to them on your behalf. By using the game or accepting these Terms, you confirm that this is the case.

3.Community Guidelines

We want Word Bomb to be fun for everyone. Please:

• Play fairly and honestly
• Be respectful to other players
• Don’t use cheats, bots, or exploits
• Don’t harass, spam, or disrupt gameplay
• Don’t attempt unauthorized access to our systems

The in-game Rules page is part of these Terms. If the Rules and these Terms ever disagree, these Terms win.

Outside tools and code

The game must run the way we ship it. Unless we have given you permission in writing, you must not:

• Use bots, scripts, macros, solvers, or any other automation or outside help while playing
• Run or inject code into the game, or read, change, or forward its data or traffic
• Reverse engineer or tamper with the game, or access our servers or APIs outside the game

These rules apply whatever the reason, including research, testing, or documentation, and whether or not you gained an advantage. Ordinary tools that don’t touch the game, such as ad blockers, password managers, and screen readers, are fine. If you want to build something that needs any of the above, ask us first.

One person, one standing

A suspension or ban applies to you, not only to one account. While you are restricted, you must not create or use other accounts to play, and accounts used to get around a restriction may be restricted too.

Breaking these rules may result in warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans. We’ll do our best to be fair, but we make the final call on what counts as a violation.

Fair play checks

We use automated checks, game logs, and player reports to detect rule breaking, and some checks can restrict an account automatically. Our Privacy Policy explains what data this uses. We don’t share how our checks work or all of the evidence behind a decision, but we will always tell you which rule a restriction is for.

4.Game Content and Features

As we develop the game, we may adjust, rebalance, or remove features. We’ll try to avoid major disruptions, but sometimes changes are needed for the health of the game, so we can’t promise every feature will stay exactly as it is.

Fan projects: We love seeing the community build tools and content around Word Bomb! You’re welcome to use our visual and sound assets in non-commercial fan projects. If you want to use them commercially, please ask us for permission first. Fan projects must still follow section 3: a fan tool can’t run inside the game, read or change its traffic, or help anyone while they play.

5.Privacy and Data

Your privacy matters to us. Please read our Privacy Policy to see how we collect and use data. By playing Word Bomb, you agree to our data practices, including the way we work with volunteer moderators to keep the game safe and fair.

6.Service Availability

We provide Word Bomb “as is” and “as available”, and we work hard to keep it running smoothly. Like any online service, though, we can’t guarantee it will always be available or error free. There may be downtime for maintenance, unexpected technical issues, or bugs we’re working to fix. We’re not liable for disruptions to your gameplay.

7.Limitation of Liability

This includes things like:

• Loss of game progress or virtual items
• Service interruptions or technical issues
• Actions of other players or third parties
• Security incidents or data issues
• Decisions or actions by volunteer moderators

If we are found liable for anything, our total liability is limited to $100 USD or the amount you’ve paid us in the past 12 months (if any), whichever is less. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited under the law that applies to you.

8.Dispute Resolution

Talk to us first: If you have a problem or complaint, please reach out through Discord or email before anything else. Most issues can be sorted out quickly.

For legal disputes that can’t be resolved informally, you agree that disputes will be handled through individual arbitration rather than court lawsuits or class actions. This means:

• Disputes are resolved one on one, not as part of a class action
• A neutral arbitrator hears both sides
• The process is usually faster and cheaper than court
• You waive your right to take part in class action lawsuits

This applies to all disputes, including those about privacy, data security, submitted content, or any other part of the game. For users in the United States, arbitration follows the Federal Arbitration Act and American Arbitration Association rules. International users will use a similar arbitration process suited to their location, unless the law where you live gives you a right to go to court that can’t be waived.

9.Account Termination

We hope you enjoy Word Bomb for a long time! We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms, behave abusively, or for other legitimate reasons. If your account is terminated, you lose access to its progress and items. Licenses you have already granted to us, including under section 11, stay in effect.

What we tell you

When we warn, suspend, or ban you, or remove something you posted, we tell you the decision, which rule or part of these Terms it is based on, how long it lasts, and how to appeal. We usually do this in the game, on Discord, or by email. We may skip or delay this only where the law allows it, for example when telling you would put someone at risk or hurt an ongoing investigation.

Appeals

If you think a decision was wrong, you can appeal by opening a ticket on our Discord server or by emailing support@wordbomb.io within six months of the decision. A person on our team will review it, including decisions that were made automatically, and we will tell you the outcome and the reason. We may ask you for information to help us check your appeal, such as the tools you were running. If we find the decision was wrong, we will lift or change it. Appealing doesn’t stop you from using any other remedy the law gives you.

Purchases

One-time purchases are delivered right away. When you buy, you ask us to deliver immediately and agree that you can’t cancel once the purchase is delivered, so they are final and not refunded, except where the law requires it. Memberships renew until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in your account settings to stop future payments. If you want a refund for a membership, contact us. We refund a membership only if you haven’t claimed any of its rewards or used any of its member-only features, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

If your account is restricted because you broke these Terms, you lose access to items and currency on it, including ones you paid for, and we don’t give refunds. If we close the game or end your account when you did nothing wrong, we will give you any refund the law requires. This doesn’t affect rights you have under consumer law where you live.

10.Intellectual Property

Word Bomb, including its content, graphics, code, and features, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You can’t copy, modify, or redistribute our content without permission, except for non-commercial fan projects as described in section 4.

11.Content You Submit

This section covers anything you send us through the game’s contribution and submission features. That includes art and skin designs (like bombs, letters, hearts, ghosts, streaks, and explosions), words, trivia, categories, bug reports, ideas, and any text or images that come with them (“Submissions”).

You keep ownership, and you give us a license

You keep the copyright in your Submissions. By submitting, you grant Word Bomb and its operators a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, copy, store, edit, resize, crop, recolor, animate, adapt, translate, combine with other content, create derivative works from, publish, publicly display, perform, distribute, and commercially exploit your Submissions, in any media and format now known or developed later.

This includes, for example:

• Offering your art in the game as skins, cosmetics, or other items
• Selling those items, or giving them away, to any player for real or virtual currency
• Changing your art so it fits the game’s style, size, or technical limits
• Using your Submissions in trailers, screenshots, social posts, and other promotion
• Letting partners and service providers host and deliver them for us

Once your Submission is accepted, you can’t withdraw this license, and it continues even if you stop playing, delete your account, or are banned. If we reject a Submission, we won’t offer it in the game, but we may keep a copy for our records and for moderation.

What you get in return

If your Submission is accepted, you receive the reward shown on the submission form at the time you submitted (for example, skulls, a free skin, or a discount). You agree that this reward is full and fair payment for the license above, and that you’re not owed any royalties, revenue share, or other payment, no matter how the Submission is used or how much any item containing it earns. We decide whether to accept a Submission and may change or stop offering it at any time.

Credit and moral rights

We may credit you by your Word Bomb username, but we don’t have to, and we decide where and how any credit appears. To the fullest extent the law allows, you waive, and agree never to assert against Word Bomb, its operators, partners, or players, any moral rights or similar rights you have in your Submissions, including the right to be named as the author and the right to object to changes. Where those rights can’t be waived under your local law, you consent to every use and change described in this section.

Your promises

When you submit something, you promise that:

• You created it yourself, and it is your original work
• It was not made with AI image or text generators
• It isn’t traced, copied, or edited from someone else’s work, including other games
• You own all the rights needed to grant the license above, and nobody else has a claim on it
• It doesn’t contain anyone’s personal information, and it isn’t hateful, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate

If any of these promises turns out to be untrue, we may remove the Submission, take back any reward you received for it, and suspend or ban your account. You are responsible for claims made against Word Bomb because you submitted something you didn’t have the right to submit.

How you agree to this section

Submission forms ask you to accept these Terms before you can send anything. By ticking that box and submitting, you agree to this section and the rest of these Terms for that Submission. We record the version you accepted along with your account and the time of submission. If you’re under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian agrees to this section on your behalf.

12.Volunteer Work

We’re incredibly grateful for our volunteers. Word Bomb wouldn’t be what it is without you! This section applies if you work with the Word Bomb team in a volunteer role, such as moderation, development, design, testing, translation, or content creation. Content you send through the public submission forms is covered by section 11 instead.

Any work, content, code, or assets you create as part of your volunteer role (“Volunteer Work”) belong to Word Bomb. By volunteering, you assign to Word Bomb all rights, title, and interest, including copyright, in your Volunteer Work. If that assignment isn’t possible under the law that applies to you, you instead grant Word Bomb an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use your Volunteer Work in any way. The credit and moral rights terms in section 11 also apply to Volunteer Work, and you agree to sign any document we reasonably need to confirm these rights.

This lets us keep using, changing, and building on your work after your volunteer role ends, so the project keeps moving forward. You’re always welcome to mention your involvement in your portfolio or resume. If you have questions about this before getting started, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to chat about it!

13.Third-Party Services

Word Bomb is available on the web, in apps, and as a Discord Activity, and may work with other third-party services. Those services have their own terms and policies, and we’re not responsible for how they operate, but we choose our partners carefully.

14.Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the game or in the law. When we make significant changes, we’ll let you know through Discord or in game. Continuing to play after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Updates never reduce a license you have already granted to us.

15.Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Word Bomb’s operators are located. Any legal proceedings or arbitration will take place in that jurisdiction, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

16.Contact Us

Have questions or concerns? Reach out through our Discord server or email us at support@wordbomb.io. We can’t reply to every message, but we read all feedback and take it seriously.

Reporting illegal content: If you see something in the game that you believe is illegal, such as a username, profile, chat message, or submission, report it in the game or email support@wordbomb.io with where it is, why you think it’s illegal, and your name and email (unless the report is about child sexual abuse material, where you can stay anonymous). We will review it, act on it if needed, and tell you what we decided.

Authorities: Government authorities and regulators can contact us at support@wordbomb.io, in English.

17.Miscellaneous

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that part is enforced as far as the law allows and the rest stays in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between you and Word Bomb. If we don’t enforce a provision right away, we haven’t waived our right to enforce it later. We may transfer these Terms, and the licenses you grant under them, to anyone who takes over the game.
