Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2, 2026

We value your privacy and want to be transparent about how we handle your data. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it to provide you with the best gaming experience.

1.Information We Collect

To provide and improve Word Bomb, we collect:

  • Gameplay data (words submitted, scores, game statistics)
  • Discord profile information (user ID, username, avatar)
  • Technical data (browser type, session information)
  • IP addresses (only for web visitors, not Discord Activity users)
  • Usage patterns and preferences
  • Error reports from the game client (error message, page, browser, and network provider)
  • Fair play data, described below

We only collect what’s necessary to run the game, maintain fair play, and prevent abuse.

2.How We Use Your Information

Your data helps us:

  • Provide and improve gameplay features
  • Maintain leaderboards and track achievements
  • Prevent cheating and abuse
  • Enforce our community guidelines and Terms of Service
  • Communicate important updates about the game

We will never sell your personal data to advertisers or unrelated third parties.

Fair play data

To detect cheating and ban evasion, the game may collect technical information about your device, browser, and game session, and gameplay data such as how you type during your turns. We use it only to keep the game fair and safe. Some checks can restrict an account automatically, and you can ask for a person to review any automatic decision by appealing as described in section 9 of our Terms of Service.

Why we are allowed to use your data

If you are in the European Union, the UK, or a place with similar laws, we rely on:

  • Performing our agreement with you, to run your account and the game
  • Our legitimate interest in keeping games fair and safe, preventing cheating, abuse, and ban evasion, and fixing bugs. This covers fair play data and error reports
  • Legal obligations, where the law requires us to keep or share data
  • Your consent, where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time

3.Moderation and Community Safety

Important information about our moderation team: To keep Word Bomb fair and safe, we work with trusted volunteer moderators from our community. These moderators help us handle reports, investigate rule violations, and maintain a positive environment for all players.

As part of their moderation duties, volunteer moderators may access certain user data including IP addresses (for web visitors only), gameplay history, and reported content when investigating specific incidents. We carefully vet our moderators and require them to follow strict confidentiality guidelines. However, as volunteers are not employees, we cannot guarantee complete control over their actions.

By using Word Bomb, you understand and accept that volunteer moderators may access your data for legitimate moderation purposes. While we take this responsibility seriously and work to minimize risks, you agree that any disputes arising from data handling by moderators will be resolved individually through arbitration rather than through class action lawsuits.

4.Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information using industry-standard security practices. Your data is stored on secure servers with restricted access. However, like all online services, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use strong passwords and follow good security practices on Discord.

5.Discord Integration

Word Bomb operates as a Discord Activity and integrates with Discord’s platform. We follow Discord’s API policies and Terms of Service. Information from your Discord profile (such as your username, ID, and avatar) is used for gameplay and social features like leaderboards and friend lists.

6.Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services for hosting, analytics, and other technical operations. These providers have their own privacy policies and security measures. We choose partners carefully, but we’re not responsible for their independent privacy practices.

7.Data Retention

We retain gameplay data and user information as long as necessary to operate the service and provide you with features like leaderboards and statistics. IP addresses (collected only for web visitors) are automatically deleted after 3 months and are immediately removed when you delete your account.

If you delete your account, we remove your personal data while we may retain anonymized gameplay statistics for game balancing and development purposes.

Fair play data that doesn’t lead to any action is not kept longer than needed to check it. When it is used as evidence for a warning, suspension, or ban, we keep it for as long as the restriction lasts and for as long as we need it to handle appeals, disputes, and repeat violations or ban evasion. Error reports are kept for a few days.

8.Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to request access to or deletion of your personal data. Contact us through our Discord server to submit a request, and we’ll process it promptly. When you delete your account, all your personal information including any IP addresses will be removed from our systems.

If you are in the European Union, the UK, or a place with similar laws, you can also ask us to correct your data, to give you a copy in a portable format, or to limit how we use it, and you can object to uses based on our legitimate interests. You can ask for a person to review a decision made automatically. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live. Send requests through Discord or to support@wordbomb.io. We answer within one month.

Some data may be kept after a deletion request, or left out of a copy, when we need it to enforce an active ban, handle an appeal or dispute, or meet a legal obligation, or when sharing it would reveal how our cheat detection works or another person’s data.

9.International Users

Word Bomb is available globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in different countries, which may have different privacy laws than your home country. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.

10.Age Requirements

Word Bomb is intended for users aged 13 and older, in compliance with Discord’s Terms of Service and applicable laws. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

11.Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we’ll notify you through Discord or the game. Continuing to use Word Bomb after updates means you accept the revised policy.

12.Contact Us

If you have questions or concerns about your privacy, please reach out through our official Discord server or email us at support@wordbomb.io. We’re here to help and will do our best to address your concerns promptly.
